Rock and Reciprocity
This work aims to restablish the special relationship the Inka, my paternal ancestors, had with rock. The Inka are often said to talk to and interact with stone that is always potentially animate. In this ongoing series of interventions I am relating to these stony excrusions in order to promote a sense of connection with the very essence of the land. I am interacting, giving, conversing with rocks and asking her for things in return. I focus on this reciprocal and complimentary relationship with the natural enviornment through stone. Rock and Reciprocity is my modern story of recreating my ancestors rockwork communication.

Fusion
Performance with cancerous tree. This intervention aims at healing this injured malignant excroissance. The excroissance is a metaphor for the injuries humans make to the earth. I place myself against the tree, standing with my feet deeply anchored in the land and my arms in gracious movement towards the sky. I become a fusional point where the sky meets the earth and the healing process can occur. This outgrowth is a visual articulation of a colloquy between man and earth. My intention is to unite the sky to tree, tree to man and man to earth. Documented in video and photo.

Mi Axis Mundi
In Mesoamerican cultures the central world tree embodies the four cardinal directions, which connects the planes of the underworld and the sky with that of the terrestrial realm. For my personal mourning process of a loved mother figure I went to a symbolic world tree, in this case the sacred banyan trees, as my axis mundi to pursue a connection to the heavens.
